Before & After Photo Tutorial: Get Results That Convert

Consistency is the whole skill

Great results photographed inconsistently look manipulated. Modest results photographed identically look credible. Your photo protocol matters more than your camera.

Step 1: Fix the position

Mark the floor. Same distance, same height, phone at eye level. Never handheld for the “after” if the “before” was propped.

Step 2: Fix the light

One light source, same direction, every time. Overhead clinic lighting flattens texture; a window or ring light at 45 degrees reveals it. Whatever you choose — never change it between before and after.

Step 3: Fix the face

Neutral expression, no makeup, hair back, same angle. A smile in the “after” is the fastest way to lose a sceptical viewer's trust.

Step 4: Shoot the healed result

Not day one. Two weeks for tox, two weeks for filler, longer for resurfacing. Swelling is not a result, and audiences know it.

Step 5: Edit almost nothing

Crop and straighten. That is it. No filters, no smoothing, no brightness lift on the “after”. One caught edit destroys years of credibility.

Step 6: Get written consent

Specific, written, and covering the platforms you will use. Verbal consent is not consent. Many regulators treat patient images as medical data — treat them that way.

Step 7: Frame honestly

State how many sessions, how long between photos, and what else was done. “Three sessions over eight weeks” builds far more trust than an unexplained miracle.
